God calls on us to give regularly, generously and sacrificially to show our gratitude for all He has given us. For us, giving is worship. It's an expression of gratitude because everything we have and enjoy comes from God.

It changes us when we give. There is a joy and freedom we experience when we give as an expression of our love for God.

Jesus gave excellent advice on financial investments - though we don't usually think of His teaching this way. He said "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21)

Tithe

Tithe means 10%. In the Bible, God calls on us to return 10% of all we make back to him through the local church. The purpose of tithing is to teach us to always put God first in our lives.

"Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." (Malachi 3:10)

Offering

An offering is any gift above your regular tithe. Jesus said if we're generous with others, God will be generous with us. He is our model of generosity.

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (Luke 6:38)
